Tips to Writing Website Content | Desert Rose Marketing

Having a beautifully designed website is only part of a successful website. If the content on the website is not worded correctly to emphasize what your business is about, it will get lost in the shuffle with all of your competition. Well Written Content is what is needed to have your business found on the internet and to make it a successful website. Remember, Content is Key!

There are three basic Content Writing sections that are important for your website’s success. There are actually more, but they get really technical. Since the point is to improve traffic to your website, we are going to stick to these three topics:

  • Website Titles
  • Web Page Content
  • Keywords

Title:

The title is the most important thing on your web page for successful S.E.O. (Search Engine Optimization). Unfortunately, most search engines only review the first 60 – 70 characters to identify your business and the services you provide. So, you need to be short, sweet, and to the point when giving your web page a title. Get your point across about what your page is about.

It is important that your title be unique, descriptive, and relevant. Here are some examples of good and bad titles:

Wrong use of a Web Page Title:

“Desert Rose Marketing is a Website Design & Graphic Design firm in Harrison, Tennessee specializing in Small Business Marketing.”
This title is over 133 characters and is very wordy. Search Engines will only look at the first half of it and most of the pertinent information will be missed.
Correct use of a Web Page Title:

“Website Design & Graphic Design Company in Spring Hill, Tennessee”
In 67 characters, we got all pertinent information in the title.
The great thing about titles is that each page of your website has its (Continue Reading:  Tips to Writing Website Content | Desert Rose Marketing)

B2B Networking Tips for Beginners

When my husband and I first started our business over eight years ago, we knew nothing about “Networking”.  We had never even heard of it.  To us networking was connecting a bunch of computers together so they could talk to each other.   Little did we know that Business Networking worked exactly the same way!
Business Networking is when a group of business owners and/or their representatives get together to introduce themselves and find out about each other.   It is a great way to meet others who are also trying to grow their business.
The hardest part about networking is finding the first event to attend.  The best place to start is at your local Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber is a comprised of a large group of local businesses and community members who want to give back to their community and help it and you succeed.   They host a variety of networking events which you can attend and introduce yourself, as well as host events where you can volunteer and sponsor.
Here are a few tips on how to get the most out of your Chamber membership:
  • Join a Chamber Committee:  Chambers usually have committees that work together to build community relationships.  The committees are a great way to meet other chamber members and give back to your community.  Most chamber committees are very active in charitable and family entertainment throughout your community.  This is a great way to get your name and brand recognized and to show the community that you care about your home town.  Find out about the different committees available and attend a few of their meetings to find out which committee would work best for you.
  • Attend Networking Events:  Chambers hold many networking events to help introduce businesses to each other.  Ribbon Cuttings, Business Card Exchanges and After Hours Mixers are a wonderful way to get to know each other and build relationships.  These events are a great form of free marketing.  Take advantage.
  • Have a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:  When you become a member of the Chamber, you are usually entitled to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to announce that you are here and open for business.  It is held at your place of business, and members come by to welcome you to the community.  But, do not take for granted that just because you have a ribbon cutting ceremony everyone will come.  The Chamber will usually post the information on their website bulletin board, but not everyone checks the site on a regular basis.  You need to spread the word yourself.  Send out personal invitations to all of your contacts inviting them to attend.   Post the event on your social network, i.e., twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Exchange Information with Others:  Your best source for finding out about other networking events is through people you meet at networking events.   When talking to other attendees, find out if they know of any other networking events that they would recommend.  You will be surprised to find out how many networking opportunities are out there.
There is more to networking than just going to events and exchanging business cards.  There is such a thing as networking etiquette.  I know that sounds strange, but there is a correct way to network and an incorrect way to network.  And you don’t want to get “blacklisted” because (Continue Reading)

Does the Google +1 Button Help Your Website's Reputation?

There has been an ongoing debate for years as to whether the Google+1 button helps your website reputation and advances your website up the Search Engine Ranks.  Many experts claim that it does not help, but just as many experts claim that it does.  So, what is the truth?  Does it or doesn’t it help your website?  The truth is, unless you are actually working at Google, and know which method of crawling and indexing they are currently using, no one really knows.
This is what I can tell you.  Social Media is the most used method of business advertising being utilized to date.  And if Liking, Tweeting, or giving your web page or blog a +1 gets your information out to the public, it is a good thing.
Being a good business that is skilled, knowledgeable and has a good reputation is what will ultimately make you successful.  And the best way to grow your business is by word of mouth.  When you have a satisfied customer, they are going to tell their friends about you and so on and so forth.  In today’s social media circles, it works the exact same way.  If you write or share information that readers like, they are going to like, tweet, share or +1 that information with their social ... Get Your New Website Found on Google & Bing

Getting your website up and running is the only the first step in directing clients to your business. Unfortunately, the one thing people don’t tell you when you are creating your website is that if you don't notify the search engines, such as Google & Bing, that you website exist, the chances of new clients fining it are really low. I know, I learned this the hard way.
How to Register Your Website on Search Engines.I am going to walk you through step-by-step on notifying the two major search engines that you exist. It took me thousands of hours of business seminars, networking, instructional classes and lots and lots of online research to learn the multitude of methods out there that will boost your websites presence online.
But the first thing you have to do is let the search engines know your website exists. You could pay your website developer or an S.E.O. firm to do this for you, but that can cost you a lot of money. And like many small businesses, money is tight.
Having been where you are, I wanted to provide small businesses with the information they needed so they could easily do it themselves.  I created step-by-step instructions that will walk you through registering your website with Google and Bing and help you move your website up the search engine ranks.  In this guide, I will show you how to:
      • Register Your Site with Google
      • Register Your Site with Bing
      • Register Your Site with Google Places
      • Set-up Your Site with Google Analytics
      • Register Your Site with Website Directories
By following the step-by-step instructions outlined in the DIY Guide to Registering Your Site with Search Engines, you will boost your website presence and get your business found on the internet.
